端午 (pronounced as duan-wu) Festival is a traditional festival celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. It is also known as the Dragon-boat festival and is one of the four major festivals in Taiwan. This year the 端午 festival was on May 31st.
On this past weekend (June 7th), STAGE e.V. and The Dresden Taiwanese Women’s Association co-organized this year’s the Dragon-boat Festival Get-together. Altogether about 80 adults as well as teens and children attended the event to celebrate with delicious, special festive sticky rice dumplings (粽子) and other dishes. Historical backgrounds of this festival and traditional handcrafts were also introduced at this event. It was a nice event enjoyed by the participants and organizers.
